Getting the Length Right
Necklace length is the decision people most often get wrong online, because the same chain sits differently on different frames. The lengths stocked here run from 16 to 24 inches, and each falls in a recognizable place: 16 inches sits at the base of the throat, 18 inches at the collarbone, 20 inches just below it, and 24 inches at the top of the sternum where it reads clearly over a top or dress.
If several necklaces will be worn together, spacing them at least two inches apart stops them tangling and lets each one be seen. A short chain with a small pendant layered over a longer plain chain is the most forgiving combination.
Pendant weight is the practical constraint. A fine cable or singapore chain is elegant on its own but will bow under a heavy pendant; box, rope and Franco chains are denser in section and carry weight without distorting. Where a piece is sold as a set, the chain has already been matched to the pendant.
