Women's Wedding Bands

Choosing a Women's Wedding Band

A wedding band is worn more or less permanently, so durability and comfort matter more than they do for any other piece of jewelry. Most women's wedding bands in this collection are 14K white gold set with diamonds, which keeps the choice focused on style and fit rather than metal.

White gold is gold alloyed with white metals and usually finished with rhodium plating for a bright white surface. Over years of wear that plating thins and can be renewed by a jeweler; it is ordinary maintenance, not a defect. Alongside the white gold bands are platinum anniversary bands set with lab-grown or natural diamonds. If you prefer a plain metal band, the plain wedding bands in gold and platinum suit anyone.

The diamond bands cover a range of settings. Pavé, with many small stones set close together, is the most common here; prong, channel and milgrain-edged designs are also represented. A group of lab-grown diamond eternity bands carries stones all the way around, listed with total carat weight and an FG color, VS2 clarity grade; see eternity and anniversary bands. For many of the other bands the diamond origin is not stated, so we describe those stones simply as diamonds.

Profile matters as much as setting. A comfort-fit band is domed on the inside so it slides over the knuckle more easily; a flat band sits lower and lines up neatly against an engagement ring. If the band will be worn beside a solitaire, check that the two sit flush, because a straight band against a high-set stone can leave a gap.

Bands with stones set all the way around generally cannot be resized, so confirm the size before you order; our ring size guide explains how. Unworn bands in their original packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery, but a band that has been resized or engraved cannot, so measure late in the day, when fingers are at their largest.
