What Sets an Anniversary Band Apart
An anniversary band is a wedding band with stones, bought after the fact rather than at the wedding. There is no rule about what it should look like, which is precisely why the category exists: it is the ring people choose once they already know how they wear jewelry.
In practice most anniversary bands are one of three things. A single row of stones set all the way around the band — an eternity ring — gives the most light from every angle but cannot be resized. A half-eternity sets stones across the top third only, which keeps the underside plain, more comfortable and resizable. A stacking band adds a narrow accent ring to what is already worn, and is the easiest way to change the look of an existing set without replacing anything.
Because these are worn alongside rings that are already on the hand, matching the metal matters more than it does for a standalone piece. Yellow next to white reads as deliberate when the widths agree and accidental when they do not.
