Men's Wedding Bands

A men's wedding band is the simplest ring to choose and the one worn hardest, so the decisions that matter are metal, width and fit rather than decoration. Every band here is a plain metal band, so any of them suits anyone who prefers an unadorned ring.

The main band here is a lightweight, polished half-round band offered in seven metals: 10K yellow or white gold, 14K yellow, white or rose gold, 18K yellow gold and platinum. It comes in widths from 1 mm to 7 mm and in a wide range of sizes, including half sizes. Only the combinations currently available can be selected, so if an option is greyed out, it is not in stock. There are also 14K white and yellow gold comfort-fit bands in widths from 3 mm to 6 mm.

Alongside it is a collection of plain platinum wedding bands: half-round, flat, European-style and knife-edge profiles in comfort-fit and standard-fit versions, lightweight to heavyweight, with stepped, beveled and milgrain edge details. Width and ring size are chosen on each listing.

Metal is a trade-off between color, weight and maintenance. 10K gold is the hardest-wearing of the golds; 14K has more gold and a richer color; 18K yellow is the warmest and softest. White gold is usually rhodium plated and will need re-plating over time. Platinum is naturally white, so it does not need plating; it is denser and heavier on the hand, and with wear it develops a soft satin patina that can be polished back to a shine. Width is mostly about hand size and preference. Around 4 to 6 mm is a common range for men's bands; narrower bands look understated, and 7 mm reads as substantial. Wider bands feel tighter at the same size, so consider a half size up above about 6 mm.

Fit describes the inside of the band. A standard-fit band, like the half-round band here, is flat or gently curved inside; a comfort-fit band is domed inside so it slides over the knuckle more easily.
