Why the Solitaire Endures
A solitaire engagement ring puts one stone on a plain band and nothing else. That simplicity is why it has outlasted every other engagement style: there is no surrounding detail competing with the diamond, and nothing attached to the design that dates it a decade later.
It is also the most transparent setting to buy. With no halo or accent stones adding sparkle from the sides, the center stone carries the whole ring, so the color and clarity you choose are exactly what shows. The trade-off is that a solitaire hides nothing: a poorly cut stone looks poorly cut. That is why the grade matters, and most of the solitaires here are lab-grown diamonds whose titles state an IGI grade of G color and VS1 clarity.
The collection is set in 10K and 14K gold, split fairly evenly between the two karats, in white gold and yellow gold, with a few solitaires in sterling silver for a lower outlay. Shapes cover round, princess, radiant, oval, emerald and cushion. Round returns the most light and is the easiest to compare; elongated shapes such as oval and emerald look larger for their weight and lengthen the finger.
Setting height affects how the ring wears day to day. A higher head lifts the stone clear of the band and catches more light; a lower one snags less on clothing and sits flatter beside a wedding band. If the ring will be worn with a band, think about that pairing before you choose, because a tall solitaire can leave a visible gap. Our women's wedding bands are worth browsing at the same time, and the ring size guide explains how to measure before ordering.
Nearly all the solitaires here are lab-grown diamonds grown by the CVD process; the few that are not do not state an origin, and we describe those stones simply as diamonds. Unworn rings in their original packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery, but a ring that has been resized or engraved cannot be, so settle the size before ordering.
What metals are these solitaires available in?
10K and 14K white gold and yellow gold, plus a few in sterling silver. The karat stamp is stated on every listing. There are no 18K, rose gold or platinum solitaires in stock at present.
How is the diamond graded?
Most solitaires here are lab-grown diamonds, and their titles state an IGI grade of G color and VS1 clarity. A few solitaires do not name a grading lab, so check the description of the ring you are considering.
Will a wedding band sit flush against a solitaire?
It depends on the height of the head and the shape of the band. A straight band beside a high-set stone can leave a gap; a lower setting or a curved band closes it. Compare both before ordering.
What is the return policy?
You can return an unworn, unaltered piece in its original packaging within 30 days of delivery. Email Concierge@impervora.com for a return authorization (RMA) number before sending anything back. Custom, engraved and personalized pieces, pierced earrings, final-sale items and gift cards cannot be returned, and return shipping for change of mind or fit is paid by the customer.
