Platinum Diamond Bands

Platinum is a natural partner for diamonds. It is white throughout, so it never tints a colorless stone, and it does not need rhodium plating to stay bright. It is dense and holds its shape well, which is why it has long been used for settings meant to be worn every day.

Every piece in this collection is a platinum anniversary band. Some are set with lab-grown diamonds and some with natural diamonds, and each title states which, along with the total carat weight. Most use round stones; a couple of the lab-grown bands use marquise-shaped stones for a more distinctive line. Where the maker gives a grade, the listing states it: one lab-grown band, for example, lists VS clarity and F or better color, and one natural band lists SI2–SI3 clarity and G–H color. The total weights stated in the titles run from a quarter to half a carat.

Several of the bands are French-set. In a French setting, a small V-shaped cut is made in the metal beneath each stone, so more of the diamond shows from the side and the band looks lighter and more open. Other bands use a more traditional row setting. French-set bands suit anyone who wants the diamonds to read as a continuous line of light.

Lab-grown and natural diamonds are the same material, with the same hardness and optical properties, graded on the same scales.
